Law Alumni Association donates book vouchers, city grants monetary contribution
Augsburg/MK/KPP – For two years, the Law Clinic Augsburg has, to the extent allowed by the Legal Services Act, been offering free legal advice in the area of Aliens and Asylum Law. The volunteering students’ commitment was now honored by the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Law, and a generous monetary contribution from the city of Augsburg enables the project to continue under ideal conditions.
By now, students from different faculties are working for, and on, the Law Clinic project, which is attached to the Faculty of Law. A donation now amply demonstrates that the Law Alumni also appreciate the development of Augsburg’s Law Clinic. “We see it as a small sign of our great appreciation that we were able to present all active volunteer advisors, committee members and interpreters with book vouchers at Christmas,” says Dr. Rudolf Wittmann, president of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Law.
For continuing education and networking
In addition, the city of Augsburg, which has been a cooperation partner right from the start, provides for a possibility to add some extraordinary features to the work of the Law Clinic Augsburg through a generous monetary contribution. “We’re planning a field trip to Strasbourg and Karlsruhe to continue our education. Besides, we want to expand our networking with other law clinics. The support of the city is going to be very helpful with that,” the director of the Law Clinic, Dipl. iur. Patricia Payome Villoria, states gratefully.
As a graduate of the Faculty of Law, Augsburg mayor Dr. Stefan Kiefer is particularly proud of the work of the young students: “The close collaboration with the university and the wonderful commitment of its students give me great pleasure. It sends an important signal into our urban community.“
